ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE AQUACULTURE SUBSECTOR

For employers' wealth and luxury and for the workers a miserable life!

New subsidies of 375 million euros for employers through the "Aquaculture and Marine Fisheries Program" which will be funded by the European Fund for Fisheries, Marine and Aquaculture.

While the salaries and rights of aquaculture industry workers are being squeezed, dozens of colleagues are being fired and work is being intensified for those who remain, the government is rewarding employers with millions of euros. In fact, in conditions of a pandemic that would helpful, fish to be in the eating habits of every family, its a luxury for every working-class family. Even for the employees of our industry who produce them, the cost is inaccessible, as most ofus, are paid with starvation wages and with them wemust cover ever-increasing daily needs.

It is time for the employees in the fish farms, in the packaging plants and in the fish, breeding stations, the employees in the offices of the big groups of theaquaculture industry who do not specific daily working hours, to give our own answer. Stop tolerating employers' cries about the low price of fish and the problems they have with their foreign competitors. It may be a convenient answer for many years to persuade us to work with starvation wages, but it hides that the capitalists themselves and their system are the ones who set market prices. They hide that the free market that they so passionately defend works just like that, having profit as their only god.
No employer, large or small, mentions that the whole industry has been set up with state and European subsidies, that is, with money from the taxable people. They hide that even now the money is flowing through a series of subsidized Greek and European programs that we are paying for again.

Who came to subsidize the expenses of the workers, the rent, the electricity and the gas, the children's tuition, the supermarket expenses that are constantly becoming more expensive?

The employers of the aquaculture industry are organized in two employers' associations. They meet regularly, organize to increase their profitability and attack workers' rights. They meet with ministers and the prime minister conveying their demands for more financial and not just support for their profitability.

become a member of your Labor Union!

We must also take our own measures! Every employee in a fish farming company, regardless of specialty and employment relationship, regardless of gender and nationality to become a member of his Union. Together with other employees in the FoodIndustry to give strength to our voice. To open the discussion in every workplace about working conditions and wages. We are those who produce all this wealth,and we cannot tolerate working with starvation wages, working like modern slaves.
Employees have the power to demand wages and working conditions that meet modern needs, to impose the signing of a Collective Bargaining Agreement. If we strengthen the mobilization of industry workers in every city, in the Food and Beverage Trade Unions, in the business unions, with the sole orientation of defending and expanding labor rights, we will be able to count victories in the fish farming sector as well. It is time to unite our voice with the whole working class!
